IT WAS IN 1999, IN FRONT OF THE CENTRE POMPIDOU, BEAUBOURG, PARIS,
WHERE THE BROTHERS STEPHANE AND ALEXANDRE HAFFNER CREATED THEIR DREAM
THAT WOULD SOON CONQUER THE WORLD UNDER THE NAME LES FARFADAIS.
It is not easy to describe Les Farfadais.
They are meant to be seen, not be be written. But we give it an honest
try. Mythologie and fantasy, combined with almost impossible acrobatic
performances, music and dance, all packed in the most fantastic decors
and costumes. Les Farfadais have found the way to make dreams come
true. Choreography, costumes, concepts, music. All is created and hand
made by the members of the group. Their shows are direct
implementations of their deepest and most creative fantasies. Within only a few years Les Farfadais have gained world fame with
their stage performances, not in the least with their show The Legend
Of Mana. This complete show, starring Stéphane and Alexandre Haffner
and Emiliano Simeoni, and ‘sang together’ by the magical voice of
Rachel Gardner-Smith, is a fantasy of dreamlike creatures, like
mermaids and real time Manga’s, the most incredible acrobatic
performances, both on stage as above, and unbelievable visual effects.
Les Farfadais have successfully created a universe that, once
experienced, will stay with you forever. –B-
IF YOU WOULD ASK ANYBODY ABOUT THE BEST CONCERT IN 2006, DOUBTLESS YOU WILL FIND MADONNA’S CONFESSION TOUR HIGH IN THE TOP TEN. NO WONDER, SINCE IT WAS A SPECTACLE AS NO OTHER. BUT THERE WAS MORE THIS YEAR.
His history is well known. He was born as Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou on June 25, 1963. Together with his school friend Andrew Ridgley he formed the duo Wham! In the early eighty’s, soon to be followed by his first solo single ‘Careless Whisper,’ written when he was only 17, and a song that became one of the signatures of the decade. His second single ’Different Corner’ was also the end of Wham! And where Andrew disappeared in anonymity, George Michael went on to become one of the most successful and appreciated male performers of the last 25 years. George Michael has never thought of popular music as a career. It’s far more personal than that. He believes that ultimately an artist’s achievement will not be judged in terms of number one singles or magazine covers, but by talent and hard work. So let’s not count the numerous number 1 singles he had, world wide. Let’s just simpley say that, in 25 years, and at 42 years of age, George can look back on more than 80 million record sales world wide, and a collection of outstanding and unique life performances, including many AIDS benefit concerts, and of course his recent 25 Live Tour. George Michael’s 25 Live Tour has been raging like a hurricane through Europe since September 23, placing George back at the place were he belongs: center stage. And in the record shops, because simultaneous with his concert, George released Twenty Five, in 2 disc, 3 disc and DVD format. Twenty Five is a celebration of George’s career up to date, featuring tracks and videos spanning his days in Wham! To present date, including timeless classics ‘Wake Me Up before You Go-Go,’ ‘Freedom,’ Careless Whisper,’ ‘Outside’ and ‘Praying For Time,’ ‘Fastlove’ and his latest single ‘This Is Not real Love,’ with ex-Sugababe Mutya Buena. With his sold out and record breaking concert tour and his new album no fan wants to miss, George Michael back where his we want him to be: to his best. –B- GEORGE MICHAEL | BEAUTIFUL
IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO TRAVEL TO THE UNITED STATES THIS WINTER, AND IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A ‘GAY’ TIME AND YOU WANT TO WORK ON YOUR TAN AT THE SAME TIME, KEY WEST IS THE PLACE TO GO. Key West is one of the world's favorite gay retreats, especially among travelers looking to spend a week or two at a self- contained, gay- exclusive resort. There are only three other places in the United States that offer such an abundance of gay-oriented accommodations - Provincetown, Palm Springs, and Fort Lauderdale. Compared to these, Key West stands out because it's warm and sunny year-round. The tiny island is just 100km north of Havana, and counts several lodgings, from inns and B&B’s to full-service resorts. Island House falls under that last category, and is without doubt one of the better places to stay. Island House can be found on the eastern edge of the Historical District. It is a place that used to be known for shabbiness and sex, but the new owners, Jon and Martin, have revamped it into a quality resort, with a friendly and competent staff, nicely furnished and decorated rooms, and in-and outdoor Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, gym and heated pool. There is an erotic video lounge and 24-hour cocktail bar with a daily happy hour, which – obviously - is one of the most popular activities of the day. And if for some strange reason you do get bored inside the resort, the friendly staff is more then happy to give you tips and directions to visit and discover Key West and everything it has to offer. Needles to say Island House is one of the top gay men’s resorts in the world. Go check out the Island House website and find out the prices are reasonable and the offer is great. Don’t forget, winter time is very comfortable down there in Florida… -B-
AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS WEEK WE MADE A SMALL CHANGE IN OUT LAY OUT, WHICH GAVE US A BIGGER AREA TO PLACE OUR ARTICLES. AL THOUGH WE PREFER IT THIS WAY, IT DID PLACE US FOR THE DILEMMA ON HOW TO FILL THIS LARGER SPACE FOR BEAUTIFUL THURSDAY. THE ANSWER HOWEVER WAS OBVIOUS. FILL IT UP WITH TWO HOT GUYS! A double dose of sensuality. That is guaranteed with Flavio and Gustavo Mendonça. This hot twin was born on November 19, 1978, which makes them 28 years old. With a length of 1,90m and an average weight of 84,5kg, they look very very similar. Exactly the way we like twins to be. They share the same interests. They like to go running, and love to travel. Together they modeled in over 12 different countries, varying from Greece to Portugal, Turkey to the United States. Their modeling career took off two years ago. While being successful in their home country Brazil, internationally it was not so easy in the beginning, and the Mendonça boys found themselves for the challenge to loose quite some weight. Which they did, with no regrets. On the contrary. Both claim it has improved their sex lives. Individual that is, or so we believe. In personality however, there are quite some differences. One finds himself responsible for example, where they other claims to be lazy. Which one is Flavio and which one is Gustavo? We leave that in the middle. Personally we don’t care. We take both. –B- TERRA THE BOY | BEAUTIFUL
A SOLDIER RETURNS HOME TO TEXAS FROM IRAQ, BUT IS THEN RECALLS WITH THE ‘STOP-LOSS’ PROCEDURE, THE CONTROVERSIAL STATUTE NOW USED BY THE U.S. DEFENSE DEPARTMENT TO EXTEND SOLDIERS’ COMBAT TIME. BUT THIS SOLDIER REFUSES TO RETURN TO BATTLE.
Based on a true story adapted for the screen, Stop-Loss centers on Sgt. Brandon King (Ryan Phillippe) and his fellow decorated Iraq war veteran Steve Shriver (Channing Tatum), who try to come to terms with a seemingly endless conflict. Stars of the upcoming war drama Channing Tatum as Steve Shriver and Ryan Phillippe as Sgt. Brandon King. Channing Tatum was born on April 26, 1980. After a successful modeling career, that includes Abercrombie & Fitch and Dolce & Gabanna, Channing decided to try his luck in the world of acting. And not without success. After featuring in some TV series and a Ricky Martin video clip, he was casted for several films – War Of The Worlds being one of the best known of these – that didn’t give him much credit. But his real break through came this year, with important roles in three movies (‘She’s The Man,’ ‘Step Up,’ ‘A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints’). 2007 promises to become another Channing-year with already two projects in the making. Ryan Phillippe's acting career began with the soap opera, ‘One Life to Live.' It was no small role; his character, Billy Douglas, was US daytime television's first gay teenager. Billy struggled with coming out issues and the town's anti-gay reactions. After several other television appearances and some small roles in movies, Ryan, born in 1974, began starring in movies of his own, like ‘White Squall’ (1996), ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ (1997), ‘Cruel Intention’ (1999), ‘Crash’ (2004) and more recently ‘Chaos’ and Flags Of Our Fathers,’ both from this year. Earlier this year Ryan made headlines with his upcoming divorce from actress Reese Witherspoon, whom he met on the set of Cruel Intentions in 1999.
Stop-Loss, directed by Kimberly Peirce is set to be released in 2007. It is the first time hearth throbs Ryan Phillippe and Channing Tatum appear together in a film. –B-
NB Stop Loss is said to be the work title of this Kimberly Peirce project.
