What advise would you give to those that want to be a model?
Jean Bruno: It is not an easy industry, sometimes very hard and sometimes even cruel. You need to be patient. Also you need to know how to emphasize yourself while working on your image. Don't hesitate to place your candidacy on various specialized sites and reply to different offers. The Internet has become an essential tool these days in casting. More and more agencies offer themselves by the Net. Some very serious and honest, others less. For models it is necessary to keep their head on their shoulders and their feet on the ground, and study every proposal. Meet different photographers and do not hesitate to work with several. Every photographer has his own way of working and for the model this is a good experience and helpful in creating an interesting book.
How do you recognize the more serious proposals?
Jean Bruno: First of all ignore all the pseudo agencies that ask inscription rights, which usually costs a lot of money. Also avoid those who ask you to pay your for your book upfront. Some agencies ask 200 to more than 500 Euros, without any guarantee for a contract. This is a very lucrative business. An other very important rule, never sign an exclusivity contract, neither with a photographer nor an agency. It is important to know that an agency that asks you to sign for exclusivity has to propose you paid work on regular base, which is very rare. One last advise, take your time to read the contract. Take it with you in order to read it well, also between the lines.
If you could choose a celebrity to shoot, who would it be and why?
Jean Bruno: I never asked myself that question, but let’s see. I admit, I am a media victim. For actors I would choose two heartthrobs: Tom Welling and Wentwort Miller. On the athletic side I also have a favorite: Boris Diaw, the French basketball player of the Phoenix Suns (NBA), but I settle for one of my models who resembles for him enormously. No surprise he is in the album… (laugh).
How can people contact you if they would like to be one of your models?
Jean Bruno: That’s simple. You can go on the site www.casting-mps.com and fill the form. Every candidate will receive a questionnaire to fill in and to send back to me by email. A few days later the file will be made. -B-
