SOMEONE ONCE SAID “IF YOU WANT TO FORGET ALL YOUR OTHER TROUBLES, WEAR TOO TIGHT SHOES.” NOW THAT SOUNDS A BIT TOO PAINFUL TO OUR LIKING, SO WE DECIDED TO SLIGHTLY CHANGE THIS QUOTE TO SOMETHING MORE LIKE “IF YOU WANT TO FORGET ALL YOUR TROUBLES, FIND A MUSCLED GUY AND MAKE HIM WEAR SOMETHING TIGHT”, OR EVEN BETTER, “IF YOU WANT TO GET INTO TROUBLE… ETCETERA ETCETERA…
Originally derived from the hose worn by European men several centuries ago, tights were made as close fitting as possible for practical reasons when riding horseback. For men of nobility the material would be made of silk or fine wool rather than the coarser fabrics used by the lower classes. At the time of King Henry VIII of England, such was the male fashion for displaying a well turned leg that even the king padded the calf area under his hose.
Now this historical explanation of the origin of men wearing tights probably has nothing to do with the photos we bring you today, besides the fact our model Graig wears his jeans anything but over sized. We aren’t complaining though. Graig is 27 years old, was born in Bristol, Connecticut, and moved to New York City about two years ago. Besides being a passionate fan of working out – as we can all witness here – Graig picked up the art of boxing in June 2008. He fought two fights that ended in two victories for him. Still Graig doesn’t have the expectation to go pro. Boxing is an outlet for energy and competition. The real fight for Graig happens on the floor of the Commodities Exchange where he works as a trader.
Not too long ago, Graig met photographer Thomas Synnamon – you probably already recognized his hand in today’s work – with this series of photographs as result. Even though generously curved, Graig is straight as an arrow. Both in professional expectations (“I am straight. I do not want to take nude pictures with photographers so that they can keep everything that remains sacred stored away in their computer so they can view them at their leisure”) as in his personal preference. Meaning, gentlemen, you can look with your eyes, not with your hands. Still, this modern day embodiment of divinity was most willing to strip down his tight trousers to his undies in front of Thomas’ camera. And as we all know, we can safely leave it up to Thomas Synnamon to guarantee beautiful sexy and tasteful portraits. And Graig, well judging from these photos he seems to have found his calling as well. Yes, if the shoe fits – or in this case, the tight jeans – you might as well wear it. –B-
