WE START GETTING THAT ITCH OF REFRESHING AND RENEWING. IT IS THE TIME OF
YEAR, THAT AFTER A COLD WINTER, YOU WANT TO OPEN ALL YOUR WINDOWS, LET
A FRESH BREEZE BLOW THROUGH YOUR HOME AND WHY NOT REPAINT EVERYTHING
WITH FRESH, NEW COLORS.
The difficulty with renovating your house is not only to find the right
materials and colors, but mostly to find the right guy for the job. We
advise to ask friends who recently went through the same exercise.
Guaranteed they will be able to give you one or two names of a
handy-man who can help out. And if you are lucky, he is not only handy
but also handsome. Someone like Alex Prinz for example.
Alex Prinz
is 23 years old and lives in London. Career-wise he is a media driven
guy, meaning he is very active in his modeling (in Europe and the USA),
is involved in magazine and run way jobs and just started turning his
hand to DJ-ing and show presenting. Besides all that, he is also the
kind of guy who like to fix things around the house, and that turned
out to be quite useful when photographer Dean Stockings contacted him.
Some time ago, UK based photographer Dean Stockings
was in the process of renovating a flat when he came in contact with
Alex Prinz. Both Dean and Alex had admired each others work from afar
for a while and decided to see what happened if they got together on a
project. But when that finally happened, Dean was in the middle of his
renovation work, which normally isn’t the most convenient situation to
do a shoot. But creative as Dean is, he decided to us the circumstances
to his best advantage and decided to work with all the mess around.
Dean explains: “The option was to clear some space and set up a
plain paper background with the studio lighting, or actually get Alex
to do a bit of the work and photograph it as part of the shoot in the
light available from the window. I'm not one to turn down the offer of
someone doing a bit of free decorating for me, so we went with the
latter, and as you can see, after a few beers and a bit of paint
throwing, the results worked brilliantly!”
There clearly is some kind of chemistry between Alex and Dean and even
though the two gentlemen only had the opportunity to work together
twice, they already landed two magazine covers, as well as a 10 page
spread. First for refresh, and more recently for DNA Magazine. “Everybody who saw the finished images loved them, and we had the pick of several top magazines who wanted to publish them,” Dean continues. “The
thing I most admire about Alex is that he is incredibly dedicated to a
project and puts so much into it, but always makes it look so
effortless - a true pro!” A pro in modeling he most certainly is.
Having a sports background in rugby, Alex now works out 6 times by week
to keep his body in shape, which results in numerous job offers. Next
month for example, he will return to New York and Miami to work on some
projects with some very talented and creative people. If he is such a
pro in home renovation as well remains to be seen. But hey, he can do
our flat anytime he wants. –B-
