CITIES THAT ARE SO LARGE THAT IS SEEMS UNLIKELY – IF NOT TO SAY IMPOSSIBLE – TO FIND WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL. AND THUS YOU HAVE NO CHOICE THAN TO LET DESTINY TAKE YOU BY THE HAND AND LEAD YOU TO WHEREVER IT WANTS YOU TO GO. OFTEN RESULTING IN UNEXPECTED ENCOUNTERS.

It is the first week of another year and yes, another decade. And after looking back on the previous year(s), it is now time to turn around and look forward. Forward to another year in which we hope to bring you many delights. Many articles with spicy ingedients and many tasty men. In other words, today we are setting the table for the months to follow.

If you ever had the chance to visit Moscow, you will agree with me that it is a city build to impress. With more than 15 million inhabitants, Moscow can be found in the higher regions of the worlds largest cities list. Situated on the Moskva River, it spreads its large boulevards and giant buildings over a surface of more than 1,000 km2. Yes, Moscow is a real metropole offering everything a metropole should offer. Four international airports, nine railroad terminals and the world famous Moscow Metro. And - and that is not so strange if you are familiar with the Moscow climate - many, many shopping malls. And it was in one of those malls where destiny decided that Alex Bego was supposed to be, one summer afternoon in Moscow.

Russia is a country that knows an interesting history. A history that has seen many influences. As it is often the case with countries and cities that have changed so much over the years, many traditions have disappeared. The Russian cuisine for example used to be quite local but has evolved into a cuisine with a rich and varied character due from the vast and multi-cultural expanse of this huge country. In other words, if you would look for something typical Russian, or in our case typical Moscovian, it would be really difficult to find. But we found it in the person of Ilya Safronovich. And maybe you can’t eat him, he is definitely something that makes you lick your fingers. And thus we decided he should be among the first dishes on our 2011 table.

In all honesty it wasn’t us who found Ilya. As said before, fate decided one day for Alex Bego to go to a mall. Doing what people do in shopping malls – maybe gourmet shopping - Alex stumbled upon Ilya. Knowing how hard it is in a city like Moscow to meet people twice, he immediately approached the 21 years old fitness instructor and invited him for a photo shoot. Now this seems like a small move for destiny to make and indeed, there is more to it. Because only a short time after Alex Bego planted this stunning result of his cooperation with Ilya on his website, the young fitness instructor got invited by Olaf Benz Underwear to pose for them. Now, only a short time later, Ilya Safronovich is one of Moscow’ most famous male models. Fate set his table for the future, and Ilya, well, together with Alex Bego he is responsible for a very tasteful table setting here on BeautifulMag. –BM-
