WITH EVERYTHING WE DO, WE ALL HAVE PREFERENCES. THINGS THAT WE CREATE THAT ARE SPECIAL TO US FOR ONE REASON OR THE OTHER. THINGS THAT COULD BE RELATED TO OUR EVERY DAY ACTIVITIES, BUT THAT ARE JUST A BIT DIFFERENT AND DONE WITH A PERSONAL TASTE. THESE ARE THE THINGS WE CHERISH THE MOST, THE THINGS WE KEEP FOR OURSELVES OR TO SHARE WITH THOSE WHO CAN APPRECIATE THEM AS GOOS AS WE DO OURSELVES. THESE ARE THE THINGS WE KEEP IN OUR JEWELRY BOX.
Dan Skinner is a book cover artist. He has been doing this for many years and has even been able to create his own company, Cerberus Inc., in order to work for and maintain contact with over 400 international book publishers. Dan works for pretty much every genre you can think of. He conceptualizes, he casts his models, he creates the props, builds the setting and renders the digital material into small scenes that are representative for a large variety of novels. Each single one of them a story by itself.
But besides his daily activities, Dan Skinner has another passion. It really doesn’t differ that much from his cover art. He is the one who comes up with the idea. He is the one to cast the models. And he is also the one to create the mise-en-scène and who shoots the photo. But the difference is that the photos he collects under the name Male Romance are of a very different nature than his regular work.
Male Romance is Dan Skinner’s jewelry box and each individual portrait is a gem. With great skill and a feeling for emotions and sensuality, Dan is able to create miniature settings, portraying intimate, romantic and personal moments between two men. His work allows us to take a sneak peak through a virtual window, right into the most private moment that can excist in a life shared by two male lovers. Sometimes romantic, sometimes erotic. Sometime funny and sometimes just simple the sharing of love. But every time moments in life that we all know or wish we knew, and that are so casual and recognizable that just the simplicity of it turns them into the little jewels they are. Moment in time that are too important to ignore. –BM-
