THE WINTER OF 2010/2011 HAS BEEN SHOCKINGLY COLD FOR MANY OF US. IT HAD AN EARLY START WITH TEMPERATURES CLOSE TO OR UNDER 0° CELCIUS IN NOVEMBER 2010 AND HAS BEEN GOING ON AND OFF EVER SINCE THEN, WITH LOTS OF SNOW AND ICE IN PLACES WHERE WE ARE NOT USED TO EXPERIENCE THESE CONDITIONS. BUT IF WE THINK IT WAS COLD HERE IN PARIS, WE BETTER THINK AGAIN. THE PEOPLE IN POLAND HAD TOO ENDURE MUCH WORSE TEMPERATURES THIS WINTER.
The winter of 2010/2011 in Europe started with an unusual cold November that, after a successful kick off in Scandinavia, joyfully loved south and west over The Netherlands, Belgium and France before making an cheerful turn to the west and visit the United Kingdom. It has been a winter with many records, from being the coldest November month in the Norwegian city of Trondheim since 1788 to a collapsed church in Belgian Diepenbeek due to heavy snowfall on the symbolic date of December 24. Here is France a record temperature was measured in Orleans, where the thermometer tumbled to a respectable -15,3°C (-4F). But this is still nothing compared to Poland, where temperatures dropped as low as -26°C (-15F). Fortunately this didn’t stop Maciej Grochala from doing his work. On the contrary.
If there was ever a reason to heat things up a bit, it was probably during the past winter months. It was so cold in Poland that even the petrol in the cars froze. Maciej Grochala, well known by the regular BeautifulMag visitors by his excellent choice in Polish male beauty, concluded he needed a little bit of help from Mateusz to heat up the place. And apparently a candle holder and feather mask can do miracles, because Mateusz seems to be everything but cold on these photos. And something tells us neither was Maciej.
It seems to be really difficult to find male models in Poland who are willing to bare it all in front of the camera. Maciej Grochala is one of the few who is relatively successful in reaching that almost impossible objective, and most likely he has reached that success thanks to his integrity and stylish artistic photography. Today’s model Mateusz was born in Warmia i Mazury, Poland’s Land of the Thousand Lakes, but has since then changed this water rich province for the Baltic sea city Gdansk. Here he studies at the academy of physical education and practices his own athletic passion of javelin throw. Hence his extra-ordinary physical shape.
Cold winters are no time to play outdoors, specially not when in Poland. So maybe this is the reason why Mateusz decided to spend some quality time inside. Maybe this is why Maciej Grochala was able to convince the young athlete to pose for him in this most aesthetic way, enabling us to admire the beauty of young Mateusz. Whatever it is, we are most grateful fro the opportunity and all I can say… let is snow…. –BM-
