Scott Barnes' Vir Impudicus

THE NUDE MALE BODY HAS BEEN FEATURED IN ART SINCE MICHELANGELO, DONATELLO AND CARAVAGGIO. NO ONE QUESTIONED THEIR MOTIVES. NO ONE THOUGHT IT WAS STRANGE OR PORNOGRAPHIC. NO ONE PLACED A LABEL ON THEIR PAINTINGS, SAYING THE MATERIAL WAS ONLY SUITABLE FOR ADULTS ONLY. SO WHY SHOULD WE?

Jessie is for sale. OK, I know that sounded better in my head than saying it out loud, but that doesn’t take away the fact that you really can own Jessie. Or at least a Jessie. Because we are not talking about the real guy of course, tempting as that might seem, but of the exciting portraits Scott Barnes shot of this up-and -coming porn model from Titan Men.

To Scott Barnes a good photograph captures spirit and movement, whether it is a person, a building or a cornfield. It resembles a moment in life. Having that said, you won’t find many cornfields on Scott’s Vir Impudicus website. What you will find however are many naked men. According to Scott most of them are Mid-West men and raised among those cornfields, but they are men nevertheless. And we have no problem with that at all.

Scott Barnes’ online portfolio is a playful wink to what he believes in. The Latin name Vir Impudicus means The Unshamed Man. Scott’s explanation is clear: “I shoot the male nude form because it irritates me that thousands of years after the Greeks were carving nude statues of Apollo and Poseidon, today a male figure study is often dismissed as pornography. I believe that the human body is beautiful and I'd like to play a part in changing that stereotype.” And so Scott has built a number of galleries on his website, dedicated to the beauty of the male form. Besids the Editorial and Erotica series, Scott also composed a whole series that focuses on Shower settings and of course his Drifters series, already highlighted here on BeautifulMag in December last year. But what comes probably closest to his true believe is his Gods portfolio. The most beautiful men in simple settings, showing nothing more or less than their own physiques. A photographic sketchbook that would make Michelangelo jealous. So the only question that remains is who he is referring to with his site’s name: himself or his models.

So let’s go back to Jessie. Jessie Colter is an up-and-coming porn star who not only just signed up with Titan men but also completed an all star movie with Lucas Entertainment. Kentucky native (see, here is that corn again), Jessie is one sexual country boy who loves to garden and strip. Not at the same time though. Apparently Jessie Colter also loves to pose for Scott Barnes’ camera and has done so on several occasions.
