THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IS A STRANGE COUNTRY. IT IS A COUNTRY OF GREAT LAKES AND LARGE DESERTS, MASSIF RIVERS AND BIG PLAINS, PRAIRIES, MOUNTAIN RANGES AND ANCIENT FORESTS. IT IS A COUNTRY THAT MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 7,700,000 KM2 AND OFFERS HOME TO OVER 330 MILLION INHABITANTS. AND ALL THESE PEOPLE, WHO LIVE IN THIS EXTREMELY DIVERSE LANDSCAPE SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE AND ARE PART OF THE SAME CULTURE. BUT DOES THAT MAKE THEM ALL THE SAME. NO… NOT REALLY…

Atlanta is the capital city of Georgia, one of the 50 states of the USA and located in the Southeast. It is a city that has played an important role in the American history. It is also the city where photographer Carl Proctor lives and works. Atlanta has a humid subtropical climate with warm summers and mild winters. Atlanta is also about 2,176.72 miles away from another American city, Los Angeles. Los Angeles is, as we all know, located on the west coast. It is the second most populous city in the United States, has a Subtropical-Mediterranean climate and is home to Benjamin Godfre. Benjamin is originally from the Midwest but move to California maybe in pursuit of his modeling career, but surely because of the nice weather. Benjamin is an outdoor man.

Carl Proctor and Benjamin Godfre. Two men that are both American and speak both the same language. They are of the same nation, but might as well have come from different sides of the universe. Something that became very clear when Carl invited Bejamin over for a shoot in Atlanta. Because no matter how much you as fellow Americans have in common, there is a world of difference between Atlanta and L.A. Carl chuckles as he remembers picking Benjamin up from the airport. “When Benjamin arrived in the 95 degree Atlanta weather from L.A. I knew immediately who he was because of his tank top, shorts and skate board.” And there we might have touched exactly that thing that probably made Benjamin move to Los Angeles in the first place. He is a skateboard-aholic and L.A. with its board walks and sunny weather is the perfect place to practice this sport.

Benjamin Godfre describes himself as a passionate man. He loves modeling and traveling, but is also keen on exercise and education and of course skateboarding. He is a philanthropist who, all in line with what the word stands for strongly believes in taking initiatives for the public good, in order to improve quality of life. He proofs this through many things he has accomplished in life, and today he shows his generosity mostly for us by not shying away in stripping his extra ordinary body to close to nothing for Carl Proctor. But always thoughtful for the ones who have helped him building his career, such as underwear designer Timoteo.

The United States of America is a strange country. It is almost a continent by itself, and even though the people are all of one nation and all speak the same language, they are as different as the diverse landscapes you can find traveling from East to West and from North to South. And this is a good thing. This is the thing that brings people such as Carl Proctor and Benjamin Godfre, though miles away, together. –BM-
