Miami based photographer Hector Rodriguez has embraced Costa Rica as his second home. Not only because of the physical beauty of the country, but also because all the other goodness Costa Rica has to offer. Such as Andrei, Hector’s muse and life partner. Andrei was born and raised in Costa Rica who recently finished his physician’s studies. Beauty and brains, what more could one ask for.

Last year December Andrei spent time in Boston where he did an internship at the Harvard Med School in Boston. Moving from a tropical paradise such as Costa Rica to the cold winter in Boston is quite a change. Allowing himself the luxury of some leisure time before, Andrei made a pit stop in Miami where he stumbled upon Hector Rodriguez. We cannot tell you if it was love at first side, but we can confirm that whatever happened in the Floridian metropole was something that shook the universe. Andrei and hector have been pretty much inseparable ever since the moment they met, even though they live almost 1,200 miles away from each other. But following their heart, Hector and Andrei did find a fitting solution for this and recently the young Costa Rican physician made the bold step in moving to Miami.

Before making the move, Hector Rodriguez made one more visit to Costa Rica and used this moment to organize a photography session starring his partner Andrei. Close to Andrei’s Costa Rican home is a large property with beautiful pool, which they choose to be the location of Andrei’s debut as male model. Hector chose bright colored swimwear to contrast with the clear blue water and decided to shoot Andrei simply as a relaxing swimmer at the poolside. The result is a true homage to Hector’s muse and a set of photographs that almost compete in beauty with the stunning Costa Rican surroundings. And Andrei? Well, he seemed most comfortable stretching on the sun heated blue painted concrete, proofing once and for all that physicians are most capable showing of their own anatomy. –BM-
