LIFE CAN BRING YOU TO STRANGE PLACES. SOMETIMES YOU REALIZE YOU HAVE ARRIVED SOMEWHERE YOU NEVER INTENDED TO GO. AND FIND IT IS PARTICULARLY HARD TO LEAVE. TO TURN THINGS AROUND AND GIVE LIFE A MORE POSITIVE SWING. HARD BUT NOR IMPOSSIBLE. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS OPEN YOUR MIND TO IT. SOMETIMES THE SMALLEST HAPENING CAN RESULT IN THE CHANGE YOU WERE BEEN LOOKING FOR.

Andrew is only 21 but has lived his life to the fullest. But recently he has definitely arrived at a pivotal point in his life. He’s run up against a lot of difficulties. Many of his own creations and the foolishness of youth. But Andrew has been working through them and matured while doing so. Not only did he turn his life around, he also found a more peaceful state of mind. His newly found way of life has resulted in a seriousness that shines through his work as model. Physically he expresses this in a well toned body that shows hard work, and a short, Spartan haircut that makes you wonder whether he is Greek, Spanish, Italian or of more oriental origin. Andrew has found happiness and is full of hope for the future.

Photographer J.Cassoni – J standing for Johnny – has been meeting some difficult times himself as well. But like Andrew, Johnny has made it through the rain. He found new happiness and joy and is filled with hopefulness. Recently J met a man who has helped him to refresh his outlook on things, especially people. This man has pushed Johnny’s work into an area Johnny considers himself more immediate. “I still have posed shots of course, but I’ve been letting myself live in the moment a bit more during the shoot”, Johnny explains.

By giving less direction, J.Cassoni learned to see. He learned to see who his models are and not just what they want people to think who they are. It has made him realize that more often than not the best shots from a session are the photo’s he or his models would not have chosen before. It has also put him in a place to be able to convince his models of this fact. Johnny’s photos of Andrew are a true testimony of his newly found place. Clean simple and strong with a soft yellow light atmosphere that seems to imply this new and calm state of mind for both Andrew and Johnny. Like a ray of sun after a period filled with rain clouds. A handful of the photographs featuring Andrew have found their way into book format, together with other work by the hands of J.Cassoni. A beautiful collection of portraits by this talented man from Atlanta. –BM-
