THERE ARE MANY WAYS WE CAN COMMUNICATE IN. FIRST OF COURSE THERE IS TALKING AND HEARING. IT IS THE MOST COMMON WAY TO REACH OUT. THEN THERE IS SMELL. MORE SUBTLE BUT NOT LESS EFFECTIVE TO BRING ACROSS CERTAIN MOODS AND EMOTIONS. TOUCH IS A GOOD ONE AS WELL. YOUR FINGERS ARE AN EXCELLENT COMMUNICATOR OF PHYSICAL IMPULSES. AND OF COURSE WE CAN ALSO COMMUNICATE WITH OUR EYES. WHAT THE EYE SEES IS IMMEDIATELY TRANSLATED IN EMOTIONAL IMPULSES. IT IS PROBABLY THE MOST DIRECT FORM OF COMMUNICATION.
Please join us on another trip to Table Rock Refuge, a private park that is located in the Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania, about 3 hours west from new York City and 2,5 hours north from Philadelphia. Do you remember it? We have been here before. A log cabin overlooking a 3 acre pond with a dock. A place so isolated from the world that you can just be here with your own thoughts, your own feelings, undisturbed by influences from outside. This is the home of painter/photographer John Clum. This is where he lives and works and where he finds his inspiration. This is also where he worked with Pete Michaels, a man that is every photographers and painters dream.
Pete Michaels sees himself as a citizen of the world. He would love to travel and never stop. Simply because he knows there are many roads and destinations laid out for him. Passionate about life in general Pete is the kind of guy who is open for all kinds of experiences. He has learned to use all his senses to communicate with his surroundings. “I love to be outside and I love our natural world. The sea is what fascinates me most and my love affair with it hopefully produces a degree in Marine Biology sooner or later.”
Being a painter at heart, John Clum has trained himself from early age on to use all his senses to see. He knows how to appreciate art, whether it is man made or a gift of nature. And so you can imagine, when John met Pete he was shocked with a sensual overload that can only be described as euphoric. “Pete is truly genuine,” John says. “He has an elegant physique and his wonderful long hair varies between brown, blond and red, depending on the light. He has a wonderfully relaxed presence. There is a flow to the way he carries himself enhanced by his long slender yet muscular physique. Being a figure painter I enjoyed being able to see all the muscles that lay under the surface.” And surprisingly, when John and Pete started to work together, John soon discovered there was more to discover about Pete.
Pete Michaels has adorned his well build muscular body with a small number of intricate tattoos. Each single one of them has been carefully chosen, and was skillfully applied adding a new layer of communication to Pete’s physique. The tree is a symbol that illustrates that all life on Earth and all forms of creation are connected to one another. The Celtic Tree in addition represents strength, long life and wisdom. It is a symbol that endures time and symbolizes the connection to Earth, the spiritual world and the universe. Pete strongly believes there is a balance to all things in the world, and one thing can not exist without its counterpart. He has immortalized that believe with the phrase “A-yin the darkness there must come out light” which he carries as a tattoo under his arm. And so Pete Michaels, with his piercing look, his slender muscular body and his very personal and emotional tattoos is like a living book. He has given body language a whole new meaning. –BM-
