HERE IN PARIS WE ARE GOING THROUGH AN EXTRAORDINARY PERIOD OF WARM WEATHER FOR THIS TIME IN THE YEAR. OVER THE PAST DAYS WE HAVE HAD DAYS THAT WOULD NOT HAVE LOOKED BAD IN THE MIDDLE OF JULY OR AUGUST. AND THE END IS NOT I SIGHT YET. STILL, NO MATTER HOW BEAUTIFUL IT MIGHT SEEM, WE ALL KNOW THIS IS IT. THE LAST DAYS OF WARMTH. THE LAST DAYS OF ENJOYING THE SUN.
The different season all come with special emotions. Winter is cold and therefore warm and cozy, spring is the period of awaking and longing and summer is simply a time of joy and happiness, of basking in the caress of our precious sun. But autumn is a period of mixed emotions. On the one hand there is the nostalgia for the summer sun that seems to be disappearing too fast, and leaving you with memories of long sunny days and warm exciting nights, and on the other hand there is the feeling of bravely moving on, knowing that all we have to look forward to is long dark nights and cold wet weather. So it is probably for that reasons that when nature gives us a few unusual hot days in fall, you enjoy it with even more intensity than you did in summer. Simply because you know this is the end. After this, there is nothing left for a long time.
Sam Devries is a renowned name in the modeling industry. The handsome and hairy man from Israeli origin has not been modeling for that long. In fact he started his career in front of the camera not long before we first featured him in March 2009. But Sam was able to expand his portfolio in record time, including work session with some of the best photographers of contemporary male art. Thomas Synnamon, Jeff Brewster, Rick Day, Mark Henderson, Walter Kurtz, David Vance, Dylan Rosser… do we need to go on? Always stylish and classy, Sam never made it any problem to bare it all, but in a way that can only be described as tasteful, aesthetic and suggestive. And so it is no wonder Sam Devries is one of the most popular male models, both for the photo artists as their audiences. But just like a good hot summer comes to an end, so has Sam decided to put his modeling career on hold and look forward to explore new horizons. Sam Devries has changed place from before to behind the camera and by doing so places himself among that same list of great photographers who we mentioned before.
In order to transform your glorious career in the spotlight to a whole new level of artistic expression, what better theme could one choose than those last days of summer. Isn’t this the best metaphor to introduce a new period in a career that has been, and still is, as radiant as the sun itself? And so Sam Devries carefully choose his model Kevin and ventured to a New York City park overlooking the majestic Hudson River. Here, in the last rays of sun light from a hot summer, he proofed that his experiences in front of the camera come to good use while handling the shutter himself. Here, hidden from the urban reality of New York’s concrete jungle, Sam Devries turns his back towards a glorious career as model, unlocks a new path for himself and bravely sets out to another journey of success. –BM-
