IN 1976 FARRAH FAWCETT APPEARED ON A POSTER SHOT BY BRUCE MCBROOM. IT WAS A SIMPLE, BASIC PHOTO SHOOT. THE POSTER FEATURED FARAH IN A ONE-PIECE RED BATHING SUIT. SHE STYLED HER OWN HAIR, HIGHLIGHTED IT WITH LEMON JUICE AND DID HER OWN MAKE-UP WITHOUT THE AID OF A MIRROR. THE POSTER BECAME AN INSTANT BESTSELLER AND SOLD 12 MILLION COPIES, AND OVER THE YEARS THE RIGHTS OF THE POSTER EARNED FARAH MORE MONEY THAN HER APPEARANCE IN CHARLIE’S ANGELS. 

Farrah Fawcett’s success has always been induced by photos and posters. A University group photo that ended up in Cashbox Magazine caught the eye of a Hollywood publicist and earned Farrah a one way ticket from Texas to Hollywood. Her famous bathing suit poster landed boosted her acting career and made her the world’s number 1 poster girl, setting an international hair trend long before the world ever heard of Jennifer Aniston. She was the ultimate glamour girl of the 1970’s and 80’s and an inspiration for many young people who dreamed of following in her footsteps, both male and female.

Sometimes you read stories of how people made it in the show business and it makes you feel everything is easy. Nothing could be further from the truth though.
