IN 1976 FARRAH FAWCETT APPEARED ON A POSTER SHOT BY BRUCE MCBROOM. IT WAS A SIMPLE, BASIC PHOTO SHOOT. THE POSTER FEATURED FARAH IN A ONE-PIECE RED BATHING SUIT. SHE STYLED HER OWN HAIR, HIGHLIGHTED IT WITH LEMON JUICE AND DID HER OWN MAKE-UP WITHOUT THE AID OF A MIRROR. THE POSTER BECAME AN INSTANT BESTSELLER AND SOLD 12 MILLION COPIES, AND OVER THE YEARS THE RIGHTS OF THE POSTER EARNED FARAH MORE MONEY THAN HER APPEARANCE IN CHARLIE’S ANGELS.
Farrah Fawcett’s success has always been induced by photos and posters. A University group photo that ended up in Cashbox Magazine caught the eye of a Hollywood publicist and earned Farrah a one way ticket from Texas to Hollywood. Her famous bathing suit poster landed boosted her acting career and made her the world’s number 1 poster girl, setting an international hair trend long before the world ever heard of Jennifer Aniston. She was the ultimate glamour girl of the 1970’s and 80’s and an inspiration for many young people who dreamed of following in her footsteps, both male and female.
Sometimes you read stories of how people made it in the show business and it makes you feel everything is easy. Nothing could be further from the truth though. So many dream of stardom, of celebrity, that it takes everything you’ve got and more to really stand out and get a shot at fame. That and a good dose of luck. Chase Hostler knows all about this. In a way he followed in Farrah Fawcett’s footsteps. Chase was born and raised in Ohio and moved to New York City in order to follow his dreams about 6 years ago. But Chase is a realist and knows that dreams do not come though if you do not work on them. Every minute of the day. And so he did.
Chase Hostler is a personality in New York City. Many have come to know him as one of the sexy dancers at the famous Mr. Black dance club, once located at Broadway and Bleecker Street. Though not very tall Chase’s impressive muscle proportions and naughty bad-boy attitude give him enough presence to stand out and make a meeting with him an unforgettable event. Dancing is not the only thing Chase did to make a name for himself. Visionary as he is, Chase has created himself a blog that in no time enjoyed international acknowledgment. With the inspiring title Chase In Your Face, subtitled Narcissism at its Finest, Chase boldly presents himself to the world, writing about his experiences, his feeling and his emotions and displaying himself in photo sets that are more often than not shot by renowned photographers. Yes, Chase Hostler has successfully transformed himself in a New York socialite and international prominence.
New York photographer Joseph Smileuske is one of those gifted artists who recognize beauty and talent when they see it. When Joseph saw some pictures featuring Chase Hostler, he decided to Goggle his name and soon found himself captured by the many different sides Chase shows of himself on his blog. He decided to contact Chase and in no time set up a meeting in his studio. “Chase definitely is an amazing model/person to work with. He loves being in front of the camera and was great with coming up with some cool sexy poses. I found him intriguing, and an artist with his body and movements. I was also fascinated with how someone, at the age of 19 left their hometown for the big city and within 6 years has made a name for himself. I found him a delight to work with.”
With his ability to change personality in an instant, to give every photo shoot a different turn, Chase Hostler is the ultimate poster boy. But he is also so much more than that. Chase has turned his passion for fashion and the camera in a fulltime job at a boutique photo agency, representing fashion photographers, stylist and make-up artists. He also went back to school, studying advertising design. And of course he still maintains his successful blog and can be found in clubs and at parties where he still entertains the crowd with his dancing. –BM-
