“IN A WORLD FILLED WITH HATE, WE MUST STILL DARE TO HOPE. IN A WORLD FILLED WITH ANGER, WE MUST STILL DARE TO COMFORT. IN A WORLD FILLED WITH DESPAIR, WE MUST STILL DARE TO DREAM. AND IN A WORLD FILLED WITH DISTRUST, WE MUST STILL DARE TO BELIEVE." – MICHAEL JACKSON.
Although we mostly profile photographers, we are always happy to take a side step and dedicate our time and digital page to other artists. Such as the model without who the photographer can’t really do anything. Junior Kehinde was born 27 years ago as the youngest of a twin. Which is exactly what his second name means. Having a dietician for a sister and a personal trainer for a brother, it doesn’t come as a surprise Junior is passionate about physical health which he expresses by 7 days a week gym visits and an average of 2,000 sit ups by day. Now that hurts my body. Believe it or not, but while growing up Junior was nicknamed "skinny bones". Free-spirited and driven as he is, Junior turned that around. Indeed there is nothing skinny about this beautiful man anymore. Which makes him rightfully the new kid on our blog.
As mentioned before, Junior is 27 years old. He models since 2009 and has in that relatively short period had the opportunity to enjoy working with renowned photographers such as Simon ‘Hotsnapz’ Barnes, Dylan Rosser, Leigh Carter, Komar, Molasso and Kraizie Kat. He is a much sought after model, not only due to his great physique and facial expression, but also thanks to his greats sense of professionalism and willingness to travel wherever he is requested to go. Calm by nature, Junior shows great interest in what happens around him and is much involved in the generation that is growing up after him and there influence in the world.
Another one of Junior’s interests is water. In fact, if he isn’t in front of the camera or in the gym, it is very likely you can find Junior in a pool. "When I swim I feel like I can completely switch off from the external world. “There is a serenity about swimming that just makes you feel like you escape all your problems. It is almost like an "out of body experience." I once swam 200 lengths (5,000 meters) for the Marie Curie cancer trust fund. That was a lot of fun, and it helped a really good cause. I managed to make £200 for cancer victims." Yes, Junior is not only very good for the eye, he has the right mindset and personality. For example, he hates faking. "No one wants or needs fake friends. I just don't like to converse with fake people. There is already too much horridness in the world, and personal struggles that people face, without bad people entering your life. We all take life for granted in my opinion. I have spoken to people that have parents with one kidney, and that struggle to get through one day without being in huge amounts of pain, or people that suffer from HIV and find their life has suddenly changed, and they take medication everyday, and get judged by people, and most probably will for the rest of their lives." No wonder he lives by Michael Jackson’s famous quote.
Of course Junior has dreams as well. And his biggest is to work in a professional environment dealing with celebrities. Ideally in journalism. "I enjoy writing, and I would absolutely love the idea of writing for a huge magazine or newspaper. That has always been my dream since I was a teenager. Maybe one day I will get Piers Morgan's old job and break exclusive stories, and get paid lots of money. Unfortunately ruining peoples lives seem to come with that job… ☺." –BM-
