Filthy/Gawjus with Magic

IT IS EASY TO CLASSIFY PEOPLE. WE DO IT ALL THE TIME. BY RACE, BY COLOR, BY GENDER, BY AGE… ACCORDING TO THE PHOTOGRAPHER WHO GOES BY THE NAME MAGIC, THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF HUMAN BEAUTY: PRETTY/HANDSOME AND INTERESTING. EXCEPT IS HIS WORK WITH MILES RACER HE DESCRIBES IT SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT. HERE HE MAKES A DISTINCTION BETWEEN FILTHY AND GAWJUS.

At 25, the man who goes by the name Magic has been photographing for 2 years. And during these 2 years he set up a website which he named Hawt Photography and which is the embodiment of his experimental side. Experimental in the area of male beauty. Magi is a lively person, and so photography is the perfect destination for him. Unlike wasting his time in a dull office space, photography offers him the chance to meet lots of interesting people and not one day is the same. Yes, Magic is the kind of man who is always looking for something new, some diversity.

“I don’t have a type”, Magic explains about his choice of models. “I don’t discriminate when it comes to age, race, etc.” Still Magic has one criteria that he firmly believes in. A guys needs to be interesting. “How I see it, there's two types of human beauty: 'pretty/handsome' which is your general physical attractiveness and then there's 'interesting' - kinda like Tilda Swinton, (she's my poster girl for this, haha) which means that she's not immediately 'pretty' but there's something magical, enticing about her that you can't take your eyes off of her. Does this make sense?” Yes Magic, it totally does.

Miles Racer is fun, laid back and- according to Magic – a super social bunny. Well known in the London social scene Miles can often be seen as host or go-go dancer at parties such as Play/Time, Gigolo or at Room Service. But there is a bit more to this funny sexy guys that what you would think at first glance. In fact Miles is the perfect combination of how Magic sees male beauty. He is handsome and he is interesting. Or, in Magic’s vision, he is fun and he is kinky. “He struck me as a mixture of both types of beauty. He is both handsome and interesting. He's got that laddy thing going on and has an extremely interesting and unique face and personality.”

Magic is still developing his style, but this shoot with Miles Racer depicts where he is at the moment: oscillating between fun (read: glamorous, colourful) and sensual (read: carnal, racy). His Filthy/Gawjus series featuring Miles Racer perfectly visualizes this. But also proofs that you don’t always have to make the distinction. In fact, Magic might have to review his own opinion on human beauty. Miles is both pretty and interesting, an almost schizophrenic personification of what makes the perfect boyfriend. –BM-
