WHEN WE ASKED ADRIAN TO TELL US WHERE WE COULD FIND SOME BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT HIM, HE MOCKINGLY TOLD US THAT HE ISN’T A CELEBRITY. THAT WE WOULDN’T FIND HIM ON GOOGLE SEARCH. SO WE INTEND TO CHANGE THAT. STARTING TODAY. ADRIAN ADI LIVES IN BUCHAREST, IS ONE OF MIRCIUS AECRIM FAVORITE MODELS AND A ROLE MODEL FOR ROMANIAN MEN WHO WOULD LOVE TO POSE FOR PHOTOS LIKE THESE, BUT DID NOT YET FIND THE COURAGE TO TAKE THE STEP TO DO IT.
The city of Mangalia is a port on the coast of the Black Sea in the south-east of Constanta County, Romania. Though a city with an ancient history, Mangalia is not known for many things. There is the Scythian Tomb, discovered in 1959, and known to be the place where the fragments of a papyrus in Greek was found in Romania. There is also the Callatis Festival, the largest music and cultural happening in Romania. Hopefully soon it will also be known as the birthplace of Adrian Udrea, Romanian male model.
Mariano Vivanco is an international fashion photographer from Peru, but who now divides his time mostly between London and New York. The ones in the know probably know him best from his work for internationally renowned magazines such as, Dazed & Confused, Vogue Nippon, Vogue Homme Nippon, Numero, Another Magazine, Man About Town, Allure, Details, GQ Italy, L'Uomo Vogue, 10 and 10 Man. But the rest of the world might know him as the man behind a series of coffe table books for Dolce & Gabanna, Uomini maybe the most famous of them. It was this book, this vision of male beauty that inspired Mircius Aecrim in his work with Adrian Udrea.
Mircius Aecrim is no stranger to us. Living and working in Romania’s capital city Bucharest, he only started photography about 5 years ago, after being exposed to one of the famous Dieux du Stade calendars. His inspiration developed into an unstoppable drive. Mircius purchased a camera and after familiarizing himself with the techniques he made the bold decision to move to New York for a few years where he embarked on a photography study at the New York Institute of Photography. Now back in Bucharest, he continues enriching his knowledge. This time at the National Art school in Bucharest, where he not only focuses on photography but also tries to masters the skills of video art. His dream is to one day be offered the opportunity to work on his own version of the famous calendar with the French Rugby Team. We think he is far too modest. Mircius has the talent and the vision to go much further than that. He has already showed that on several occasions.
Recently Mircius Aecrim stumbled upon a website featuring product of the Timoteo underwear collection and felt inspired to do something with that. He contacted Timoteo to see if they would possibly be interested. They were. In fact, the products were already in the mail before Mircius could finish the conversation. And so, waiting for the material to arrive, Mircius contacted one of his favorite models and started exploring concepts. Mircius Aecrim is a curious guy, which is an inevitable ingredient for every creative talent knew he wanted to do something new, something with a twist that was never done before for the brand. Looking for inspiration he ended up paging though Marinao Vivanco’s Uomini, which is his favorite photobook. This inspired him to not only shoot Adrian with underwear, but also nude, to give that edge and extra seductive twist to the Timoteo brand.
Cleaning out a room and using dramatic light effect and see through, Mircius Aecrim was able to stage a setting that makes it look we are looking at Adrian Udrea as seeing him through a window. Long exposures and poses that turn away from the camera, result in an atmosphere so intimate makes you almost feel ashamed to look at these scenes. Almost, because it would be a loss to miss it. Mircius and Adrian created a room with a view that you seldom see. Glamorous and sexy, but with a sense of melancholia that we have come to know as Mircius Aecrim signature style. Guaranteeing Adrian Udrea’s rightful place on the Google map and a new reason to know the city of Mangalia. –BM-
