Beyond Decadence/Wet Expressions

WHEN HE WAS 16 YEAR OLD, EDWARD PLANTING BOUGHT HIS VERY FIRST ART OBJECT AT AN AUCTION. IT WOULD BE THE FIRST OF MANY. EDWARD BECAME A PASSIONATE COLLECTOR. EDWARD STUDIED LAW AND ART HISTORY AND MADE A SUCCESSFUL CAREER, WHICH ALLOWED HIM TO CONTINUE COLLECTING ART, ESPECIALLY PHOTOGRAPHS. NOT ONLY COLLECTING BUT ALSO DEALING IN ART EVENTUALLY RESULTED IN THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE EDWARD PLANTING GALLERY, ONE OF THE MOST RENOWNED GALLERIES FOR FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE NETHERLANDS.

Many national and international photographic art lovers know the Edward Planting Gallery in Amsterdam. The gallery is specialized in contemporary photography and regularly shows works from artists such as Edwin Olaf and Annie Leibovitz. This summer Edward Planting has decided to dedicate his gallery to 2 amazing shows that are seamlessly connected. Under the captivating title Beyond Decadence, the Edward Planting Gallery presents from July 28 to August 11 the fantastic works from Marco Sanges, Hans Withoos and Gert Kist.

Three artists with three different visions. Italian Marco Sanges, internationally renowned, shows his work inspired by the roaring 1020’s. Dutch Hans Withoos, also not unknown, will be displaying his art that strongly refers to the Golden Age. And Malemodel.nl artists Gert Kist, probably one of Holland’s best known male art photographer, will stand guarantee for adding a more contemporary touch to this exciting exhibition. Not only a delightful combination of talent, but the exhibition will also take place during the world famous Dutch Gay Pride in Amsterdam which will assure a large visitors count and definitely a great atmosphere.

Gert Kist will exhibit some of his most beautiful work under the fascinating title Wet Expressions. His contribution to the Beyond decadence exhibition is a sparkling one. Not only thanks Brad, the model chosen to be Gert’s figure head for Wet Expressions, but also due to the extra ordinary material choice of Gert Kist’s art. The work will be shown in 2 formats, 90 x 135 cm and 120 x 105 cm and all will be executed on brushed aluminum. Costly, yes (prices start around 2500 Euros) but exceptionally beautiful and long-lasting. And, judging by these visual, definitely worth it. –BM-

Beyond Decadence/Wet Expressions runs from July 28 to August 11 2012, with special opening hours during Gay Pride. The Edward Planting Gallery can be found in the Eerste Bloemdwarsstraat 2, Amsterdam, under the shadow of the famous Westertoren and a stone’s thow away from the Anne Frank House and the Gay Monument.
