It isn’t that long ago that Blake Tysinger had a chat with his friends Matthew Cam about how boring nightlife in New York had become. And how mundane the music. Not being able to find what they were looking for, they realized there was only one solution. And so, all in New York tradition, they simply concluded that if you can’t find it, you create it. Hence FREAK, one of the newest and hottest parties in New York.
That’s the history of FREAK. But what about Blake Tysinger. Who is he? According to photographer Edwin Pabon, Blake is just a regular NYC guy. But can someone who describes himself as a cultural castrator and entrepreneurial mind f**k really be labeled as regular? We don’t think so. So let’s dig a little bit deeper, shall we? First of all, Blake Tysinger is a sight for sore eyes. I think we can all agree on that. But the general observation stops right there. There is nothing consistent about Blake. He is a true man of contrast, constantly challenging the status quo. He clashes masculinity and femininity, redefines the meaning of being classy or, for that matter, a whore. Yes, Blake Tyginger is notorious for his pansexual style and gritty artistic energy with which he has set a new precedent in NYC street fashion. In other words, he took heaven and hell in his hands, juggled them around and released them to all, without explaining which one is which.
Born and raised in New York City, Edwin Pabon began his career as a freelance stylist. He made a successful transition in photography after having studies the art at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Edwin discovered he mastered the ability to capture timeless provocative portraits as well and professional still life photographs for commercial corporations. Living by his self-claimed mantra Love and Joy, Edwin Pabon’s free spirited personality is the foundation of his success. It is no surprise that his path crossed the one of Blake Tysinger and they found similar souls in each other.
Blake Tysinger and cohort Matthew Cam are getting ready to launch a new fashion line, debuting beginning September with the release of a signature fragrance "8.5" and "8.5 THICK". About this new venture, Blake says: "I really hope to change people's perception of what it is to get dressed in the morning. It should be a celebration which manifests your core definitions, emotions and passions... And hopefully it looks good too." Until then, and hopefully after as well, Blake curates and hosts different events in and around New York City, including earlier mentioned weekly party FREAK as G Lounge every Thursday.
