The Good Neighbor

HUMBOLDT PARK IS ONE OF CHICAGO’S 77 COMMUNITY AREAS LOCATED TO THE NORTHWEST OF THE CITY. THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS NAMED AFTER THE ADJACENT 207 ACRE PARK, WHICH IN ITS OWN TURN THANKS ITS NAME TO GERMAN NATURALIST AND GEOGRAPHER ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLDT WHO, BY THE WAY, ONLY ONCE VISITED THE UNITED STATES WHICH DID NOT INCLUDE CHICAGO.

Humboldt Park, annexed by Chicago in 1869, is not only known for its beautiful park flanked by large graystone homes, it is also home to Chicago’s largest Puerto Rican community. Even more so, it is the only officially recognized Puerto Rican neighborhood in the United States, recognized with 2 giant metal Puerto Rican flags that tower 18 meters high on each side of the Paseo Boricua or Division Street. This is the neighborhood from David Davila.

Chicago is a city with a humid continental climate. Meaning the summers are hot and the winters cold, snowy and windy. Apparently that combination of 2 extremes builds strength and character because it is not the first time we have noticed that Chicago is home to quite some handsome, sexy and masculine men. It must have something to do with the strong winds the city is so famous for.

David Davila is definitely no exception to this. All you have to do is look at him and you see what we mean. 29 years old David was born and raised in Chicago and has lived here all his life. His playground is, as mentioned earlier, Humboldt Park. This is where his family and friends live to whom David is very close. David currently works at State Farm Insurance which is also based in Humboldt Park, which makes David truly the good neighbor. But that isn’t the only reason. Because besides the fact David Davila is not so bad on the eye, he is also a man who has his heart at the right place. His involvement with the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Fund is proof of that.

David Davila portraits were shot by Dave Ouano, equally a resident of Chicago and no stranger to BeautifulMag. Completely self-taught with only a class here and there to help him, Dave has built himself a successful career as photographer and has been making name for himself by shooting club and event photos for magazines and papers such as Windy City Times, ChicagoPride.com, GoGuide and Nightspots for over 18 years. A period in which his work of course not went unnoticed. The visibility he gained with those many publications, landed him many corporate and commercial assignments and clients, and Dave Ouano is now a well sought-after photographer for many local businesses as well as fashion editorials. –BM-

I'm partial to some models and David is a definite fave. Gorgeous body, beautiful face and an even bigger personality and heart. I could stare at him all day.
