Karl from Sweden

ONE OF THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTIONS OF THE SCANDINAVIAN COUNTRIES IS THAT IS ALWAYS COLD THERE. TRUE, THE NORDICS AREN’T EXACTLY HOT, BUT STILL THEY HAVE VERY COMFORTABLE TEMPERATURES IF YOU AREN’T LOOKING FOR TROPICAL TEMPERATURES. STOCKHOLM FOR EXAMPLE, THE SWEDISH CAPITAL CITY, HAS A NICE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 23°C (73°F) DURING THE SUMMER. AND WHAT A COINCIDENT THAT IT WAS ON SUCH A NICE DAY THAT XAVIER B MET KARL.

Karl Simon is a 30 years old and a Swedish model who lives in Stockholm, Sweden. He is in fact a well sought after model that has over the years landed him assignments that offered him the chance to work more often outside the Swedish borders than in his home country. Karl can be spotted regularly in London and New York, working on either athletic, fitness or underwear shoots. And so it was quite the coincident that he met photographer Xavier B on a sunny day in Stockholm.

Xavier B is 33 year old and lives in Belgium. Like Karl his work has given him quite the exposure, resulting in job offers from outside the borders of his home country and so Xavier too enjoys an international playground. For 14 years he has been handling the camera, not only for photography, where he specializes in fashion and portraits, but also in video. In 2006 he directed the short film Shopping.

Xavier B met Karl Simon on a sunny day in May in Stockholm and the two man decided to embark on a photo adventure. The result was so satisfying that both concluded it would be a shame to not push this a bit further, and so they agreed to meet up again this Fall. Which is a good thing because we don’t see enough of our Nordic neighbors, and if they come in a nice package like Karl, we definitely are ready for more. –BM-
