Beautiful: BeautifulDirtyAngel

NO MOUNTAIN IS HIGH ENOUGH, NO RIVER TOO DEEP. WHERE THERE IS A WISH, THERE IS A WAY. IN OTHER WORDS, IF YOU WANT SOMETHING REALLY BADLY, YOU WILL FIND A WAY TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. DISTANCES BLUR. NIGE RORBACH KNOWS ALL ABOUT THIS. BECAUSE HE HAS NO LIMITS WHEN IT COME TO FINDING GUYS THAT REALLY INSPIRE HIM. AND THAT OF COURSE IS THE REASON WHY HIS WORK IS ALWAYS OUTSTANDING.

Nige Rorbach lives and works in Crewe, UK, which is in the middle of… Well pretty much in the middle of Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham, and about a 2 and a half train ride north from London. There is nothing wrong with that of course, except if you are a photographer who is very selective when it comes to choosing models. Nige Rorbach is. Not only is he a perfectionist when it comes to visualizing new concepts but he is also on a constant quest to find that one perfect guy that fits his vision to realize his ideas. And of course you do not always find them just around the corner.

The story of James Cohen is surprisingly different from most other male models. James did not start his career with modeling. James is an actor, singer and dancer who, in fact, had never modeled before he gave it a serious try only some time ago. He enjoys it a lot and obviously he is good at it. He is an actor and dancer after all and those skills come in quite handy when posing in front of a camera, though it isn’t exactly the same. For Nige Rorbach James was the perfect embodiment when he started thinking about a follow up on his successful cooperation with Alfie Stone in BeautifulDirtySexy. But unfortunately James is located in London and although not that far away, it is a bit difficult if your model is a busy entertainer and you a photographer who has all the necessary equipment based in Crewe. But where there is a wish, there is a way.

And so it came to happen that James Cohen traveled north and met with Nige Rorbach. And aren’t we glad he did. With his acting and dancing background, James is the kind of guy who knows how to tell a story with his whole physical being. He is that kind of guy who can, with a simple change in attitude, portray different emotions. But whatever his body expresses through body language, his eyes always hold that sexy daring promise of something more. As if he dares you to come closer. Though Nige’s first objective was to shoot that anticipated follow up on BeautifulDirtySexy, he also decided to strike the iron while it was hot. And so, with his ambitious Pin Ups & Icons project close in mind, he challenged James to try different things. Apparently James isn’t afraid of a challenge.

When asked about his cooperation with James Cohen, Nige Rorbach says: “We talked a lot about different ideas, mostly for my current project, Pin ups & Icons. I came up with a few ideas and things I wanted to try for the project, and James liked what I had suggested. I don't think I could have really imagined the results though, one of the ideas we only briefly discussed was the "Relax" t shirt shots. I love that James just gave it a really sexy, almost dirty energy, and I think it worked out brilliantly.” For Nige, James was a great guy to work with and that shows in the portraits he shot. Obviously the two men got along incredibly well, and James did exactly that what NIge is looking for in a model. Working hard to get the best possible result, and inspire him to go further and try more. And so James Cohen is not only a muse, he is almost an angel. A BeautifulDirtyAngel that is. –BM-
