EDITOR'S LETTER
Happy New Year to ya all. We had a very nice and quiet New Year’s Eve, thank you very much. We were with friends, had a good time and went to bed not too late. Which was a good thing because at 7am our puppy dog insisted on having a walk outside. And so it came to pass that I was walking her early morning of the 1st of January, surrounded by loud, drunk, dirty and even sick people who were on their way home or – worse – to another party. It was a strange scene and it reminded me of how Abba once sang about feeling lost and blue when the morning looks so grey and how sometimes we can see how a brave new world arrives and how it thrives in the ashes of our lives.
We are two weeks in 2013 and it seems like yesterday when we were all anticipating the end of the world on December 21 2012. Worse, it seems like only a moment ago when we were convinced everything would come to an end with the turn of the millennium. It is pretty amazing how we as a species always just keep going. No matter how big the disaster or how dark our future looks like, we keep dragging on and living our lives the way we used to do yesterday and the day before. There is something admirable about it, really. From the day we are born we move forward, even before we know how to walk. And by the time we die, we simply make place for someone else to take over, continuing the long walk of life and hoping we learn from every little mistake and victory we make. Such as wars and revolutions. We are children of the Earth and us being here with all our troubles and dispute is putting a great strain on our Mother. And so, that particular morning, I truly felt I could see how our planet pulled herself together and got ready for another 365 days turn. Being very brave indeed. –BM-

New Year was a great time for us to party in Australia. Not those grey skies I grew up with in Europe - instead the longest days of the year. So sad that climate change caused such dreadful heat and fires here in January. Hope you have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2013 - and also all your readers.
