HAVING THE TALENT IS ONE THING. ACTING UPON IT IS SOMETHING ELSE. AND NOT EVERYONE IS CAPABLE TO STEP INTO THE SPOTLIGHT BEING WHO THEY ARE. SOMETIMES IT REQUIRES PUTTING ON ANOTHER PERSONALITY THAT ALLOWS YOU TO DO THINGS YOU WOULDN’T DO BEING YOURSELF. ITS’ LIKE PUTTING ON ANOTHER COAT. OR IN THIS CASE MAYBE TAKING IT OFF.

Shaun was first introduced to the world of dance while still attending high school. He went from hip-hop to theater dancing and discovered he had a real talent for it. Which eventually introduced him to the exciting but very different world of exotic entertainment. It was at that time, in Club WET in Atlanta where Caramel was born. Now, at the age of 24, Caramel/Shaun is a professional performer, traveling from state to state.

Shaun was 22 years old when he first started to practice exotic dancing. It all happened kind of accidentally when a close friend was supposed to perform but got cold feet and Shaun simply decided to help out and fill in. Never having been a shy person, Shaun does admit that after that first impulsive step into the spotlight, it has never been that easy again. Ever since he decided to make exotic dancing his profession, he feels an increase of stress just before his performance. But only for a second, because that is when Caramel takes over and leads the way. Though both the same person, Shaun and Caramel are most certainly not the same personality. Where Shaun is goofy, fun loving and courageous, Caramel’s charm lies more in the corner of sexual and erotic seduction.

Originally from Connecticut, Shaun/Caramel recently moved to Dallas, Texas. The reason was simple. He felt he was running out of possibilities in his home state and simply decided it was time for a change. Moving to Dallas has not been a bad decision for Shaun. Besides more and exciting opportunities as Caramel, he also came in contact with Texas based photographer Calvin Brockington. And Calvin, who has a nose when it comes to finding new talent, immediately saw the potential in Shaun as a photography model. Calvin met Shaun through a mutual friend, fashion designer Antonio Paolo Sadio, who is responsible for creating Caramel’s full attire. “Having given the opportunity to shoot a cover feature for BeautifulMag I did several test shoots with a variety of models, but none of them made the cut,” Calvin explains. “They were too fashion, too new, too shy or just too scared to be placed on a site that addresses a gay audience.” But when Antonio introduced Calvin to Shaun, Calvin knew he had found his guy.

How the concept came about was actually very spontaneous. Before Shaun arrived at the studio, Calvin Brockington had pulled out 4 looks for him to do. He son learned Shaun is an ex-football player, which explains his thick, muscular build. Calvin used that knowledge to turn one of the 4 looks into a sports theme. Shaun as very excited about it all, which clearly rubbed off on Calvin as well. The result is an extensive set of photos in which Shaun transforms into Caramel, under the watchful eye of Calvin Brockington. –BM-
