Once upon a time there was a boy who developed a passion for graphic design. Mind you this was about 15 years ago. A period in time when computers were not that great. At this time, this boy lived in the United Kingdom, and in order to give air to his creativity he occupied himself with designing covers for school journals and cassette tapes. This boy was named Golden Czermak.
Though his name doesn’t say it right away, Golden Czermak is American born and raised. And after his brief stay in the United Kingdom, he returned to his country of origin. Northern Alabama to be precise. Here he went to college, working hard to get his engineering degree. But at the same time he kept indulging himself with graphic design. He found a computer at school that had Photoshop on it and spent his free time working through the software, teaching himself how to use it. Becoming more noticeable in design Golden found himself in dire need of stock photography for his work. Now everyone who has ever worked in graphic design can agree on the fact that image bank material isn’t always the best. It is really hard to find imagery that answers exactly to what you need. And so Golden Czermak boldly picked up a camera and started to shoot his own. Initially landscapes, plants and animals, but it didn’t take long before Golden started to use family and friends to create the images he so desperately needed.
One day in late 2011, Golden Czermak decided to explore a new area of photography and shot some fitness models. These photos eventually ended up on huge local billboards, giving Golden the idea that he might be on to something here. In August last year, Golden Czermak opened his FuriousFotog in Athens, Alabama, concentrating on standard portraiture, event and wedding photography, but with a focus on fashion and fitness work. Though Golden likes to work with men, he also welcomes women in his studio and emphasizes on helping others to develop their portfolio.
For his first appearance on BeautifulMag, Golden Czermak selected a set of photos from his more recent work. Featured models are Gary Taylor, Mike Crowson, Colin Wayne and Frankie Guerra, known to Golden as his “Bama boys.” We have baptized them cowboys and angels. Simply because if we think of the heroic cowboys from the legends and ethereal angles from the myths, we think they should have looked like these men. Vigorous and strong, powerful and bold. Celestial and refined. And oh so sexy with their Stetsons on their heads and wings on their back. –BM-
