Maybe the name isn’t that familiar to you yet, but we are sure you have seen his work around. Troy Phillips. Artist and expert when it comes to editorial, fashion, fitness, beauty, fine arts and portrait photography. And with a diversity in work like that it is almost impossible you haven’t seen any of his work before.
Troy Phillips was born and raised in Oklahoma, USA. With a background in counseling psychology and design, Troy also has a passion for photography which started in his early teenage years. And as we have seen many times already, once that kind of passion is found, it will never go away anymore. Troy’s love for photography followed him like a shadow. He took it with him when he moved to Japan for studies. And it followed him back to the United States when he settled in New York City in the early 1990’s. Still it would take another handful of years before Troy Phillips would give in to his affection for the art and turned it into a career. A successful one as well.
As mentioned before, Troy Phillips work has been widely published. And if you don’t recognize his name, for sure you will recognize his style. Not in the least because he collaborated with Abercrombie & Fitch, and the many celebrities he had in front of his camera. Such as NFL Football player Thomas Jones, international ballet dancer Roberto Bolle, gymnastic world champion and Olympic medalist Alicia Sacramone, actors Cheyenne Jackson, Ben Curtis and Aiden Turner and reality TV star Billy Jeffrey. Troy debuted his professional photography career in 2005 with a fine art portrait exhibition in the prestigious National Art Club in New York and has since then displayed his fantastic work in shows in Osaka, Tokyo, Toronto, NYC and Brooklyn.
Asides from his collaboration in not two, but three Bruno Gmünder photo books, Troy Phillips work has been published in numerous international print magazines. DNA, M Mensuel, reFresh and Blue among them. His portraits have graced many covers and soon he can most likely ad a BeautifulMag cover to that impressive list as well. Today we give you an introduction to Troy’s amazing work and if this visual treat isn’t enough for you, we can strongly recommend you to visit his Facebook page or his official website. Or you can wait for our follow up, which is guaranteed to come soon. –BM-
