Often when porn actors are interviewed they are asked if they think there is life after porn. François Sagat is the living proof that there is. 9 years ago, at the age of 25, François was approached by French porn production house Citébeur. He decided to accept their offer to feature in their films and a few weeks later he stood in front of the camera’s. It wasn’t what François dreamed of doing when he moved from the French region Cognac where he was born to Paris at the age of 18. No, François was hoping to make a career in fashion. Indeed he studied fashion and had the chance to work with designers such as Lagerfeld and Testino, but François soon realized that the glamorous world of fashion asked a lot of investment from him without getting much in return. François wanted more.
For the ones in the know, it is probably François Sagat’s performance on screen, but for the more mainstream audience, he soon became a well known personality due to his characteristic head tattoo. François consciously made his choice to make a career in the adult entertainment, and soon made the swith from Europe to the USA where he was contracted first by Raging Stallion Studios and after as exclusive for Titan Media. But it wasn’t for long that François Sagat proofed that even though he made his career in porn, he could easily switch to mainstream entertainment and has since been seen in roles in movies such as L.A. Zombie, Homme au Baine and Saw VI. And he even returned to the fashion scene, becoming the figurehead of German designer Bernard Wilhelm’s first official collection, and he also collaborated with French fashion brand Fade and featured in many fashion photo shoots.
Someone else who is quiet familiar in front of the photographers camera is Jonathan Best. Born and raised in Ireland, Jonathan decided in 2008 to go on a wild adventure, packed his things, leave his home country and moved to Australia. It was ion the sandy and sunny shores of Sydney that Jonathan first discovered fitness, and in turn, nude modeling. Since then he has had the privilege of working with some of the world’s most renowned photographers, appearing in exhibitions, books, magazines, and online blogs. Jonathan stayed 4 years in Australia where he eventually became a much-seen personality in the entertainment scene, organizing Mardi Grass parties and events and hosting for DNA Magazine, ResErection and the club Xile. But after those 4 years Jonathan decided to return to the Emerald Isle, bigger and better than when he had left.
Photographer Samuel Rodrigues also discovered the beauty of the green isle in the Celtic Sea. Original from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, he decided after 8 years of gaining huge experience in fashion photography to broaden his horizon and grow and develop as an artist my emerging himself in another culture. And so he moved to Dublin in 2006 where he established his Studio Oh! Fotografia with his business partner Lucas Gregório. Though a creative direction of profession, Samuel has always been drawn to photography through his passion for cinema, music, dance and the visual arts. His style is distinctly contemporary and cinematic, each photograph telling a story through the use of boldness, colors, textures, tones, and conceptual imagery.
Together with the experienced team of Crew Models International, Samuel Rodrigues was able to bring both François Sagat and Jonathan Best in front of his camera in Dublin. About his work in general, Samuel says: “With a passion for what I do, I am always ready to represent the world beyond what eyes can see.” And there is certainly a lot to discover behind what Samuel presents with these stunning portraits of Jonathan and François. Asked about his opinion on the series, François Sagat smiled and said: “It was meant to be romantic kinda, but it ended up being very sexual. It smells like sex and sweat… I did it for sexy Jonathan, for fun.”
François Sagat, Jonathan Best and Samuel Rodrigues. Three talented men who followed their path and took what life had to offer them. For sure if these three men sit down and look back at their accomplishments, they can do it with pride. –BM-
