It has now been quite some time ago, but September always brings back that feeling of going back to school. I’m sure I’m not the only one to feel this. It’s almost as if September is the first month of a new year and it's true that September is by definition the month in which we all return from hopefully nice and relaxing vacations in which we recharged our batteries to get ready for another year of work or school. Going back down memory lane, one of the things that come to mind is my lunch box. Especially for those first days my mom would pack me something extra. Though today it would be more responsible to add a piece of fruit, in my days parents didn’t look that close and we kids were always happy to find a chocolate bar or other piece of candy hidden with our lunch. My mom has always been a most generous woman and so I was never surprised to find more than one treat. And being a true son of my mother, I was also always very happy to share my goodies with my friends.
Candy. Who wasn’t brought up with it. Though I do admit my taste for sugar treats has changed over the years I have to say that even today I can be – ok lets say it – as happy as a kid in a candy store with something sticky and sweet. But I’m happy to add that I never lost my generous character and so whenever I get myself something to lick or to nibble on, I’m most happy to share it with anyone else who has a sweet tooth. But before you raise your hand, let me warn you. My craving for something to wallow in has changed over the years. Meaning, I no longer am satisfied with gummy candy, licorice or caramel. My need for satisfaction has grown into the more serious hard candy, such as lollipops, candy sticks and jawbreakers. If you’re with me, line up, because September introduces a new year in which we re-open our own candy store. And since we always like to share, we start with 2 covers for the same issue. Because let’s face it, from all the candy out there, we can never get enough of eye candy. –BM-
