YOU CAN FIND MODELS ALL OVER THE WORLD. THEY ARE ALL DIFFERENT BUT SOMEHOW THEY HAVE A LOT IN COMMON. FOR EXAMPLE, MANY ARE FITNESS FANATICS AND WORK AS PERSONAL TRAINERS. THERE ARE ALSO MANY WHO FOUND A CAREER IN DANCING. WHEN IT COMES TO SPORT, THEY ALL PRACTISE SEVERAL KINDS. BUT THERE IS ONE THING THAT DIFFERENTIATES A MODEL FROM CANADA WITH ALL THOSE OTHERS FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD. HIS PASSION FOR PLAYING HOCKEY.
Ice hockey, in Canada simply referred to as hockey, is Canada’s number one sport. Played on ice with two teams of 6 all on ice skates and sticks, ice hockey is known as the world’s fastest sport. Though officially only a winter sport, it is incredibly popular in Canada and many young boy was brought up with it. Obviously not all of them continued practising but some did and some even went to semi-professional or professional level.
With a name such as his, it almost seems unnecessary to mention, but Philippe Lebrun is a native French Canadian. And so, it probably also doesn’t come as a big surprise if I tell you Phillipe pretty much grew up on ice skates and with a hockey stick in his hands. Indeed, Philippe is a passionate hockey player and does this at semi-professional level. Asides from that, Philippe also busies himself with other outdoor sports, as well as dance, fitness competition and being a personal trainer. And he models. The fitness competitions is something Philippe got involved in not too long ago. But it has definitely developed itself as a new passion: “It takes me places I have never been before. From my home in Montreal, I often travel to New York, Chicago and Seattle.”
It was through fitness competition that Philippe Lebrun entered the world of fitness modelling. Now, training for photo shoots by working out, gaining experience in front of the camera, establishing new connections, meeting industry people and building a qualitative portfolio has become a new and compelling priority for Philippe. Curious and professional as he is, Philippe is open for many different disciplines when it comes to modelling, such as fashion, fitness, physique, swim- and underwear. His first objectives were an agency contract and exposure on male model blogs. That first he got with Crew Models International, the latter on BeautifulMag.
Of course to get exposure as a model you need good photographs. And Philippe Lebrun has them. By the hand of Perry Senecal. Equally brought up in Montreal, Perry studied at Dawson College and the University of Montreal. He specializes in portrait photography using artificial and natural lighting. Perry is involved in all aspects of his shooting sessions, utilizing his expertise as coiffure and stylist, creating complicity and intimacy with his models. Inspired by photographers of the 1950's his use of dark backgrounds, light versus shade, displays elegance and sensuality in his photography. A technique that definitely brings out the best of Philippe Lebrun –BM-
