IF YOU ASK AMERICANS WHAT THEY KNOW ABOUT DENMARK, YOU WILL PROBABLY BE QUIET SURPRISED BY THE ANSWERS. THOUGH SOME BELIEVE IT IS A CITY, MOST KNOW IT IS IN FACT A COUNTRY IN EUROPE AND IN ADDITION THAT IS LOCATED IN SCANDINAVIA. AND THAT IS BASICALLY IT. NOW IT IS TRUE THAT DENMARK IS A VERY SMALL COUNTRY, BUT STILL THERE ARE SOME VERY INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT DENMARK AND THE DANISH PEOPLE.
The history of Denmark dates back approximately 12,000 years, and the Danish were among the group of seafaring warriors and conquerors known as the Vikings. During the Viking period the Danish discovered and settles in Iceland, Greenland, Vinland (now known as New Foundland). They also raided and conquered parts of France and the British Isles, Ireland, Spain, Portugal and Italy Currently the Danish Realm exists out of three territories: the Faroe Islands, the vast territory of Greenland and the Danish peninsula and archipelago that consist of 407 individual islands. When talking about Denmark one mostly refers to the latter.
The Danish are considered to be the happiest people in the world. Not because they have more reason to be happy, but because they are apparently more realistic and therefore less disappointed. Danish pay the highest tax rate in the world… and they love it… (see “happiest people”). Why, because the tax rate results in a very social society, with free healthcare, free schools, unemployment security and generous maternity leaves. Another very particular thing about Denmark is that they all have the same names. Not by coincident as it is arranged so by law. In Denmark there is an official list of pre-approved names that you have to use to name your kids. Denmark is relatively small, not counting the Faroe Islands and Greenland. With it’s 43,094 square kilometres, it is the 30th of 49 European countries in size. Funny thing is that is number 3 on the list of the tallest countries in the world (after the Netherlands and Sweden), referring to the length of its inhabitants. And that brings us to the subject of today, named Phil. Or, according to himself, VikingPhil.
VikingPhil is 23 years old and stand 6' 2" / 1m88 tall. Phil loves sports. He has been a swimmer for about 15 years, practises fight sports since 3 years and is always in for a couple of miles running and other sport activities. Yes, Phil is passionate about sports. For the fun, for the competition and for health. Health is an important factor in Phil’s life. Not only physical health, but also mental. He loves to read and train his brain with exercises, books and experts. Phil studied at the University of Southern Denmark where he got his Bachelor degree in Media Science. After his graduation he was given the opportunity to study abroad. Having the Viking travel spirit running through his veins, Phil choose to go to Texas, where he embarked on a radio, television and film study at the University of Austin. And by doing so he followed in the footsteps of some of his family members who are living there as well.
Phil started his modeling career as VikingPhil while attending university in Texas. Through school Phil came in contact with a local photographer who offered to shoot a set of portraits that Phil then could use on Facebook or other social media sites. Phil used the photographs to open himself an account on Model Mayhem. One thing lead to another and soon other photographers started to contact him. Among them Matson Jones. Located in Hollywood, Matson can probably easily find models that have much experience. He prefers however to work with models that are new to the industry. He loves to direct them, guide them and help them to find their own style. When VikingPhil finished his studies in Austin, he found himself an internship at the new broadcasting company TheLatest!, based in Los Angeles. And so, while being at the west coast, he met Matson and decided to work on a photo set with him. Resulting in a very sophisticated and sensual set of photos that most certainly will help Phil to present himself to Los Angeles based agencies.
VikingPhil is from Denmark and ventured into the world, just like his ancestors did so many years ago. And just like those ancestors, Phil is set to conquer another territory, in this case the United States. Born and raised in Denmark Phil is a happy person, part of this small group of people that are said to be the happiest in the world. Being in the USA has made Phil even more happier. –BM-
