IT IS INTERESTING TO REALIZE HOW YOUR ACTIONS INFLUENCE THE IMAGE PEOPLE HAVE OF YOU. YOU CAN BE ACTING IN A CERTAIN WAY, INFLUENCED BY YOUR SURROUNDING, YOUR WORK POSITION OR THE THINGS YOU LIKE TO DO. BUT IT MIGHT NOT AT ALL REFLECT YOU TRUE PERSONALITY. FOR EXAMPLE, MOST THINK THAT BOXERS ARE HARDCORE, TOUGH GUYS, MEAN EVEN, WHO ARE IN IT FOR THE FIGHT AND THE CHANCE TO BEAT SOME ONE UP. A BIG MISUNDERSTANDING OF COURSE.
Eric Ganison lives and works in Dallas, Texas. Original from Greenville, MS, he moved to Dallas in 1991 where he first studied performing arts before ending up working as a model instructor for the John Roberts Power Modeling School. Since 2003 Eric has been working as photographer, first in-house with the Fossil Company and since three years as an independent artist. His education in performing arts and his first years in photography have given him a good sense for drama and urban settings.
As said, Eric Ganison’s photography career started in 2003, when he accepted a position as in-house photographer with Fossil Inc. For 6 years he shot product and fashion and during this time he also accepted the position of lead photographer for Krave Magazine, the magazine focused on upscale urban male style. Until he decided to quite his work with Fossil and started a more international career. Looking at Eric Ganison’s folio you will discover a variety of work. There are many fashion portraits as well as wedding, corporate and product photography. But Eric has also mastered the art of fine art and body photography.
Eric’s experience in product and fashion photography marries excellent with his impeccable taste when it comes to choosing male models. Bo Thomas for example. Eric Ganison met Bo just a couple of months ago and his masculine beauty struck him immediately. This was a man who would fit perfectly in one of his conceptual compositions. Talking to Bo Eric soon discovered Bo was not just another model who works out a lot to stay in shape. Bo Thomas is a semi-pro boxer. His roughed look immediately made sense to Eric. Here he had a real fighter in his hand. But more than that, Eric was taken by Bo’s most striking feature, his intense green eyes. Bo Thomas himself was more than comfortable to show off his more sensitive and emotional side for the shoot, instead of the tough hardcore kick ass side most people see when they se Bo. The setting is chosen with care. The whit and silverfish background contrasts beautifully with Bo’s dark skin, his strong angular face and his beautifully shaped boxers body, dressed in suit and tie or stripped to (almost) naked. Another kickass triumph for Eric Ganison. –BM-
