THE FAMOUS SONG ABOUT NEW YORK CITY TEACHES US THAT IF YOU CAN MAKE IT THERE YOU’LL MAKE IT ANYWHERE. YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO ACTUALLY MAKE IT THERE. NEW YORK IS IN MANY RESPECTS TOP OF THE BILL. ALSO WHEN IT COMES TO ART. AND SO, IF YOU ARE OFFERED A PARTICIPATING ROLE IN A PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION, IT IS A BIG DEAL. AND IF YOU ARE OFFERED A SOLO EXHIBITION, IT IS A REALLY BIG DEAL.
What do Callan, Nicholas, Tom and Korum have in common? Well, first of all, they are all male models. Secondly they all have collaborated with Roberto Araujo. And finally, they are all part of Roberto’s first solo exhibition in New York City, Malexposure. Roberto was born and raised in New York City and living and working in the Big Apple as photographer he knows as no other how difficult it is to get foot on the ground in this ever moving dynamic city with it’s ever moving dynamic art scene. Nevertheless he did it.
The gay scene of New York is one of the most dynamic gay scenes in the world. And the G Lounge sits close to its epic centre. Located in charismatic Chelsea, the G Lounge is, and has been for many years, the place to be. And it is here that Roberto Araujo will open his Malexposure exhibition on October 7. An exhibition of some of Roberto’s finest works that clearly show his passion for photography, his love for the male form and his knowledge of theatrical visual expressions. Roberto Araujo has a background in acting and I clearly shows through in his work. Work that needs to be seen. Centre stage. –BM-
Malexposure by Roberto Araujo opens on October 7, 2014, from 6 to 9pm at G Lounge, 225 W19th Street, between 7 & 8 Avenues, Chelsea, NYC. Some of the photos shown here are not necessarily part of the Malexposure exhibition.
