TO BE FRANK, DOIN’ DIRT MIGHT NOT BE THE BEST-CHOSEN TITLE EVER. MOSTLY USED INDICATING CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES IT MIGHT GIVE YOU A VERY WRONG IMAGE OF DREW DIXON. THEN AGAIN, HE DOES KIND OF HAVE A BAD BOY LOOK, DOESN’T HE? TO BE HONEST, WE DON’T REALLY KNOW WHETHER DREW IS A GOOD OR A BAD BOY. WE DO KNOW HOWEVER THAT HE IS A HAND FULL. PUN INTENDED.
If you are one of those lucky owners of Nige Rorbach’s 2018 ModelArmy: Vanguard calendars Drew Dixon is no stranger to you. Drew might be familiar to others as well for other reasons. Because maybe he isn’t the bad boy this title indicates, he certainly is a bad puppy. Which probably also explains his most professional attitude and the ease with which he nailed every shot Nige planned within, well, minutes. Nige Rorbach said: “Drew is a natural model, very confident and sexy, with a great sense of style. We both had huge cases full of clothes, and we just worked through each outfit. It was easy to go through so many different looks, because Drew nailed the shot within a few clicks of the camera. There are so many images from each look, that it made the job of going through them quite difficult.” The series presented here today where shot in an old warehouse in Birmingham. According to Nige, it was very cold, and we can believe that. Also according to Nige the cold didn't bother Drew at all, and we can believe that as well. “He just got on with it, and was a total professional. No moaning or complaining, just hard work and a fantastic attitude.”
Drew Dixon is turning 30 this month and is ready to embrace this new stage in his life. Originally from Birmingham, he currently resides in Bristol. A city he has come to love as no other. He used to be competitive swimmer in his younger years so naturally he has a need to work out. Drew: “I wouldn’t class myself as a ‘gymrat’, although I do work out 5 times a week but I like a mixture of exercise from boxing, spin, weights and I have an awesome PT. The key to exercise is to actually enjoy it and to bring in an element fun into it.” Drew Dixon had been aware of Nige Rorbach photo art and, liking what he saw, decided he wanted a piece of the action.
Productive, but most definitely fun. That’s how Drew describes his collaboration with Nige. “I loved playing dress up (or dress down) with lots of different looks. It is amazing how one studio space can create so many different settings/looks. I loved playing around with the lighting and trying new things as well.” We love that the outfits are quite sexy and revealing (and in some cases completely nude), and the backdrop is dirty, rundown and quite bare. We also love, just like Drew, those shot in the yellow harness, where the dusty back drop against the stark white socks and shoes create such a great juxtaposition. Also, the very last scene featuring Drew am on the sofa, something so casual and easy about it, that it gives you the impression we are looking as Drew Dixon at home. And we particularly love how Drew does dirt because he’s doin’ dirt very well. –BM-
