European Snow Pride 2013

FROM MARCH 23 TO MARCH 30, TIGNES VAL CLARET IN THE FRENCH ALPES WAS ONCE AGAIN HOME FOR MORE THAN 500 GAY MEN AND WOMEN, WHO GATHERED TOGETHER FOR THE ANNUAL EUROPEAN SNOW PRIDE. THE ORGANIZATION WENT TO GREAT LENGTHS TO MAKE IT A WEEK THAT NO ONE WOULD FORGET. AND INDEED, THE ESP 2013 WAS A GREAT SUCCESS.

Saturday march 23. The first cars and busses for the European Snow Pride 2013 arrived early, packed with many gay men and women with excitement in their eyes in anticipation of one full week of snow and party fun. After two years of average snow, this year winter came and stayed long and Tignes Val Claret at 2,100 meter high was a true snow village, covered under many layers of crisp white snow. Heavy snowfall over the past weeks left no doubt about ski and surf possibilities. Many ski and surf fanatics stayed in the luxurious L’Ecrin de Val Claret which was fully booked, but also Les Suites du Nevada and many other residence were ready to house the more then 500 participants.

As tradition dictates, the week officially kicked off that Saturday evening with a welcome party. By definition the ideal moment to check out the other attendants and make first contacts. Not too late of course because Sunday morning the white slopes were waiting to welcome this new group of snow fans. Besides the many, many slopes and routes that can be explored in the Tignes area, the European Snow Pride of course also organized alternative entertainment. During the day participants could find relaxation in the L’Ecrin du Val Claret spa and of course there were festive après ski events every afternoon with participation of live DJ’s such as Cyril G, John Nixon, Rachel Harvey and Nicolas Nucci.

European Snow Pride offered a different party and event every night of the week some dedicated to special themes. There was the famous 80’s/90’s Crazyvores party, all in Hollywood style. There was also the erotic Sexpulsion Party, and even an evening in which a Toboggan ride brought us to a wilderness camp with a barbeque in a cosy and heated Mongolian yurt. And Wednesday everyone could let themselves go at the celebrated ES Pool Party, hosted by DJ Cyril G. Everyday brought excitement and fun, and even though the weather was maybe a bit too wintry, the entertainment and company was more than enough to make you forget the sometimes heavy snowfall.

The European Snow Pride 2013 was a huge success. There was a good organization with a strong client service team, there was entertainment at any time of the day and night and there were dance parties with some of Europe’s best DJ’s. More importantly, there was a great group of people that guaranteed a terrific ambiance. Something that found its climax at the Supermartxé closing party. Alas, the European Snow Pride has come to an end, but with the promise for another great week in 2014. –BM-

But all coming from the very capable and experienced hands from Olivier, the organizer of the very first gay ski week that we all have come to know and love so much over the past decade. It is almost 10 years ago that Olivier started organizing his first gay ski event. 2005 saw the first European gay ski event taking place in La Plagne. The event moved to various known ski resorts in the French Alpes in the years to follow, but next year it returns to one of the resorts where the previous ski week enjoyed much enthusiasm. Not only from participants but also from the locals. The first European Snow Pride will take place in Tigne from March 23 to 30 2013, starting a new tradition which will outshine every other gay ski event known.

There is only one word in the dictionary that can describe perfectly the European Snow Pride, and that word is incredible. Let us explain why. First of all, the European Snow Pride (ESP) has incredible audacity, being the result of a meeting of the openly gay friendly and audacity driven resort of Tigne, the representatives and partners of the event and the organizer himself. ESP will offer an incredible diversity in both events and participants. The class, style and service overpasses every other ski events know. Tigne’s ski area with its 300km of slopes culminating at 3,450m at the glacier de la Grande Motte, the Alps' summer skiing paradise, is globally known as one of the most incredible snow sports places in the world and finally the organization offers incredible deals in infrastructure and equipment.

The program of this new and exciting gay snow happening is not new, but the way the organization filled it promises a new adventure for every day of the week. You will be welcomed on Saturday March 23, 2013 with a welcome cocktail and buffet in the stunning Withney bar of main accommodation hotel Suites de Nevada, prepared by Michelin star chef Jean-Michel Bouvier. Which off course will be followed by the first of many exhilarating parties. Every day a Magic Après-ski will take place on the large south facing terrace of the downtown located Coffee bar, where you can mingle with other gay skiers and snowboarders while chatting, dancing or enjoying the pleasures of one of the present hot tubs. There will be before parties, main parties and after parties, hosted by Europe’s most famous gay clubs and DJ’s. One of the weeks highlights will definitely be the ES Pool Party, taking place in the amazing Lagon, Tigne’s pool, spa and fitness center which stretches over 5,000 sqm and will be accessible without restriction and with no supplement to all pass holders. European Snow Pride is also proud to announce the Wilderness Camp Evening: an evening combining the fun of a toboggan ride at twilight and a barbecue dinner in a cozy and heated Mongolian yurt. Finally we can announce that the closing party wil be hosted by Supermartxe and teh amazing DJ Salva di Nobles.

All highlight that will make the European Snow Pride the most incredible and unforgettable gay ski event ever. On Wednesday 19 December, Leicester Square Theatre opens its doors for the fans of The Supreme Fabulettes and everyone else who can appreciate a good show with a healthy dose of glamour and fun. Vicki Vivacious, Mary Mac and Vanilla Lush bring a whole new Christmas live show with a Glee-style glitz-and-glam take on Motown and recent hits. There own special Christmas song being the most recent of them.

You Ruined My Xmas is a song written by Boy George especially for The Supreme Fabulettes. And anyone who remembers Boy George from his Culture Club days or is familiar with his success musical Taboo, the partly imaginary story of a group of club names set in the location of what was London’s most fashionable nightclub in the mid 1980’s, knows that this particular song must can be nothing else than an extravagant, flamboyant take on the old Christmas theme. London photographer Dean Stockings partnered with Boy George to shoot the video, in which we not only se the 3 vedettes but also international porn actor Johnny Hazzard as the apparent reason for the heart ache. You Ruined My Xmas received over 30,000 views in its first week on YouTube and promises to become a real Christmas hit in the UK and possibly beyond. –BM-

Katy Perry: Part of Me

ON OCTOBER 25 1984, KEITH AND MARY HUDSON BECAME THE PROUD PARENTS OF THEIR SECOND BABY GIRL, WHICH THEY NAMED KATHERYN ELIZABETH. WITH BOTH HER PARENTS BEING PASTORS, KATHERYN GREW UP, WITH HER OLDER SISTER AND YOUNGER BROTHER, IN A VERY CHRISTIAN ENVIRONMENT, ATTENDING CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS AND CAMPS AND LISTENING TO CHRISTIAN GOSPEL MUSIC ONLY. THOUGH IT SOUNDS RESTRICTED, KATHERYN GREW UP A HAPPY CHILD, TAKING DANCE CLASSES AND VOCAL COACHING.

Incorporated in her parent’s ministry, she started to sing in their church at the early age of 9. It wasn’t for long that it became clear, Katheryn had quite the talent. At the age of 15, Katheryn Hudson attracted the attention of some Nashville rock veterans who brought her over to Tennessee in order to polish her skills. She ended up singing a record deal and release her debut album, simply named Katy Hudson, containing all Christian songs. Two years later, Katy as she called herself now, met Glen Ballard, songwriter and producer of Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill album. Finding comfort in working with Glen, Katy became vocalist of The Matrix production team. Though working hard at her musical career, and being offered several opportunities, Katy never managed to release a successful album.

 

In 2007 Virgin Records chairman Jason Flom was searching for the next global pop act. Being exposed to The Matrix and some of the small individual projects Katy Hudson was involved in, he started to have a strong feeling this 23 year old girl could possibly be the answer he was looking for. And so, despite mixed reactions from fellow Virgin executives, he signed her to the newly created Capitol Music group. Katy, who realized that her family name was too close to film actress Kate Hudson, decided to change her name ad adopted the family name of her close relatives Eleanor and Frank Perry.

Part of the deal with Capitol was to adopt unfinished recording Katy had done while recording with Colombia Records. However Jason Flom thought these recordings lacked the strength to become instant hits on both US and international markets and decided to team her up with writer/producer Dr. Luke which resulted in the song I Kissed a Girl. Katy Perry is the only female artist ever to score 5 number 1 hits from one album and the first artist to have 4 different music videos nominated in different categories at the renowned MTV Music Video Awards. Now, relatively young in her international career and with only 2 studio albums on her name, Katy Perry can sign off on numerous awards and nominations, a film role, two perfumes inspired by her and even a Barbie doll created in her distinctive style. A success story that will be topped this year with the release of the documentary film Katy Perry: Part of Me. 

Inspired by Madonna: Truth or Dare, the part-biopic part-concert movie of Madonna – who by the way is a strong supporter of 28 years old Katy Perry – Katy Perry shows and talks about her life and career so far in this documentary film. The film will be the closure of her Teenage Dream era and, according to the singer, is a testimony to her big professional and personal life-changing journey that she wants to share with her fans. “This film, you're going to see it from my best friend/buddy perspective, you're going to see exactly what I mean and feel and think about everything.”

Katy Perry: Part of Me will open in film theaters in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland and the United Kingdom on July 4 2012. The film promises to be a backstage pass, front row seat and intimate look at the fun, glamorous, heartbreaking, inspiring, crazy, magical, passionate and honest mad diary of Katy Perry. –BM-
