COMFORT INN IS ALL ABOUT BEING IN A PLACE OF COMPLETE SERENITY AND TRANQUILITY. IT EXTENDS BEYOND A PHYSICAL REALM OF COMFORT BUT RATHER EMBRACES HAVING A PEACE OF MIND AND TOTAL UNDERSTANDING. IN COMFORT INN’S STILLNESS, A CERTAIN ASPECT OF ACCEPTANCE TAKES FORM IN THE MODELS REFLECTION OF LIFE’S EXPERIENCES.
Sherrod Bolden’s leap into photography extends back to 2009. Relatively new, his passion for his craft has afforded him the opportunity to make significant strides in the industry. Sherrod prides himself on his ability to capture natural emotion while remaining integral. Known for his bohemian interests, Sherrod’s photo inspiration is often drawn from music artists such as Solange Knowles, Jhene Aiko, and Kelela, all of whom reflect a similar flare. Sherrod Bolden Photography captures all aspects of the human body that exude sexuality and sensuality.
Isaiah Belcher was the first model that Sherrod Bolden had the opportunity to shoot upon moving to Atlanta. Immediately, there was an undeniable chemistry between the two. So months after, when the opportunity arose to shoot Isaiah again, Sherrod leapt at the chance. Sherrod drew inspiration from Jhene Aiko’s "Comfort Inn". "Honestly, it was the first line of the song that got me," he explains. "She says something along the line of "I thought I told you not to trust these hoes." So it got me to thinking about past relationships and my own journey. I just stayed in my thoughts for a little while. I guess reflecting a bit." So there the concept was born.
The shoot was done with natural and very low lighting to reflect an aspect of mystery and being lost in reflection. Sherrod stressed natural movement to emphasize one simply being comfortable at home, and feeling free to place your hands wherever they roam. With the addition of shooting with deep contrasts and dark shadows, Sherrod felt the shoot was able to maintain its integrity with very little editing. –BM-

Disappointing...understand the calculated mood but lighting is too low. The shoot loses any impact which is a shame because the subject looks interesting.
